…because life is too precious to be miserable
My husband didn’t sleep well last night. Why you ask? Because my snoring has gotten worse recently that it wakes him up several times every night. Normally he tries to be patient and taps me lightly to get my attention but ofcourse when a person has woken up for the nth time you can’t expect them to be sensitive. So I did some research on causes and cures for snoring and here’s what I have found so far:
After doing a simple snore test to identify what is causing the problem, I realized I’m a mouth breather. This means that I can’t breathe well through my nose at night therefore I breathe though my mouth and that causes the snoring. The site goes on to list some products that will cure snoring but I am apprehensive as it costs quite a bit ($65). I have decided to see a doctor and share also what I’ve researched so far and get his advice on whether or not a snore guard would help me.
Some other helpful tips I uncovered while researching that I think might my case:
1. Get a firm pillow as soft pillows can let your throat muscles relax & narrow your airways, thus causing snoring.
2. Sleep on your side instead of on your back. When you sleep on your back, your tongue falls backwards into your throat which can narrow your airway and partly block airflow.
3. Nasal blockages (such as when you have allergies or a deviated septum - where the partition between your nose is crooked) can limit airflow through your nose and force you to breath through your mouth. (BINGO! I THINK I NOW HAVE A VALID REASON TO GET A NOSE JOB - LIKE JENNIFER ANISTON AND ASHLEY TISHDALE WHO CLAIMED THEY GOT A NOSE JOB TO CORRECT THEIR DEVIATED SEPTUM)
4. Lose weight (I have gained a few lbs…) as being overweight can also cause your throat tissues to be less firm and more inclined to vibrate when you breathe.
So I’m off to find a doctor (should I see a GP?)…I’m not even sure what kind of doctor I should go to. If you guys have any input, I would appreciate it ![]()
When I was younger, I had my life planned out. I would get married at 24 and have babies right away. I guess I thought life was that simple. You just plan something and it happened.
Well my husband and I have been trying to have a baby since February. Needless to say, it hasn’t been successful. Here’s my story:
I found out I was pregnant last Mar. 3, 2007. It wasn’t planned but when I found out I was positive, I was ecstatic. Unfortunately, the pregnancy did not progress (maybe it was God’s waying of saying it wasn’t time yet) and I had a D and C (Dilation and Curettage) . While I was pregnant, they found out that I had PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) so this had to be treated first before we can try to get pregnant again. I was put on birth control pills (first Diane then I switched to Yasmin because I didn’t like the side effects of Diane) to treat this and at the same, regulate my period because I was irregular. My doctor also prescribed Metformin to help treat my PCOS but after a week of taking it I decided to stop because of the side effects (my doctor said it was OK). My OB gave me the go signal to try again last October but I was so scared that I decided to put it off. Last Feb, we decided to try again. We tried it the “natural” way for a month then I started taking the fertility pill Clomid last March (my OB said taking fertility pills would help as I also had a retroverted uterus). I’ve been taking Clomid for the past 2 cycles. I was supposed to get my period last May 27 and I still don’t have it until now. But I’m not getting my hopes up. You see the same thing happened last April. I didn’t get my period and I thought I was pregnant already. I took about 3 pregnancy tests and all came back negative. So my doctor had to induce my period for me to start on another cycle of fertility pills. And now I feel like I’m back to square one. So I’m off to my OB this afternoon to get checked again. Maybe she will increase my dosage of Clomid (I’m currently taking 50mg)? We really want and long to have a baby soon (Not to rush you Lord but I AM pushing 30)…
Isn’t it ironic that those who want to get pregnant have a hard time while those who don’t want to get pregnant are blessed with children without even trying?…Just one of the mysteries of life I guess.
If any of you have been through this, I would really appreciate your feedback and advice
A 19 year-old freshman, John Tyler, was elected as Mayor of Oklahoma. He beat a 70 year-old incumbent. Inspite of his age & lack of experience, majority of the townsfolk voted for him. In my opinion, that’s exactly why they chose him. Because they felt the need for CHANGE.
I would love to see the same thing happen in the Philippines. Enough of those political clans! We need new blood! We elect the same people and we expect different results? Isn’t that the definition of insanity?! I think it’s about time that young people in this country step up.
On that note, did I mention that he’s an avid gamer (a hobby he shares w/ my hubby)? I think Niño should run for President… ![]()
I had a big fight with TumTum (that’s what I affectionately call my husband) yesterday. So what’s a girl to do? I left in a huff and went straight to the parlor to have my hair colored. And I’m thrilled with the results!!! My colorist, who also does my rebonding, commented that my haircut looked weird (I get my haircut at a different salon, you see). She offered to correct it but I’m picky about who cuts my hair as I’ve had some very bad experiences in the past. Truth be told, I was unhappy with my last haircut that I even had to go back to the salon the next day to have it fixed. So I said jokingly, “I’ll let you do it if you do it for free.” Lo and behold she agreed! I must say, I AM ONE HAPPY CUSTOMER. I love my hairdo even better now as the ends are not as “heavy” as they used to be.
I really like going to this salon even if the rates are higher because they are the only ones who are able to do a good job rebonding my hair. I’ve tried it all - Piandre, Hairbytes, David’s Salon, even unknown salons recommended by friends, but none have given me the results I wanted. I’m not saying don’t go to these parlors because I know some people who were happy with the results. It’s just that my hair is unbelievably difficult to tame (very sponghada) or “afro” as my husband likes to tease me.
I came home looking and feeling refreshed. I just love a good “parlor” therapy! So for all your beauty needs, I would highly recommend South Salon in Alabang and look for Menchie.
Hi everyone!
Let me share with you how I became interested in blogging. Last year I stumbled upon (actually she gave me her blog’s address when we bumped into each other) my HS friend Zhar’s blog. I would visit her blog often to find out what’s happening with her as we didn’t really get to see each other that often, only at basketball games of MJC (w/c my husband Nino and Zhar’s fiance Rod were both members of) and the once-a-year Christmas party we had with our CSA friends. But being the non-techie that I am, I was quite intimidated and didn’t know the first thing about how to start my own blog. What piqued my interest again was visiting the blog of my cousin Kelly after finding it on my cousin-in-law’s Multiply site. I was quite close to her growing up as we were close in age, lived near each other and spent multiple summers together (singing lessons at Center for Pop Music, playing “patintero” infront of their house, riding their scooter around the village and many other fond memories). However, that closeness disappeared as we grew older. Reading her blog brought me up-to-date with the goings-on in her life and renewed my interest to have my own blog where I can also share the latest happenings with my friends and my opinions and interests with other bloggers. The world wide web is such a wonderful and big place and I wanted my own spot where my voice can be heard.
I found this blog by Anton Diaz of Our Awesome Planet particularly useful. I visited the recommended blog sites and finally decided on WordPress. I have been reading on themes, css, badges, widgets, etc. since 9am (it’s already 12:10pm) and I still don’t understand anything :P There’s still so much to learn and I’m excited to begin this journey!
P.S. Good thing I have a techie for a husband or else I would be completely hopeless! Although, he’s pretty useless right now as he’s deeply engrossed in his never-ending game of WOW (that’s World of Warcraft for you clueless people out there)
